Orange Julius

I originally wanted to post a kind of cakeball/cake truffle today.  I made them.  I took pictures.  I ate them. But then, I didn't get around to finishing the post.  Next week fo sho!  (I don't know why I can't stop think-talking like my husband...you know, "think-talking" is the way your voice sounds in your own head.  It's been a long week, guys.)
-----------------------------------------------------------
My mom has had this recipe since I was in preschool.  She got it from another mom.  We used to make it all the time at home.

Personally, if I were you, I'd add some strawberries (fresh or frozen), because my very favorite drink to get at the mall's Orange Julius stand is a Strawberry Julius.  Strawberry Julius really just means "strawberry smoothie", and whether it's an Orange Julius or a Strawberry Julius from the mall.....it just means sugar and "juice" all blended up with a little bit of ice.  Have you seen the colored powdered they add to the high-speed fancy blenders that I secretly wish I owned?  Looks more than a little artificial to me.

This is why it's better to eat at home, friends.  You have no idea what's in that colored powder.  I think Orange Julius' are over-priced anyway..

For this recipe, you use orange juice concentrate.  And, please, adjust the sugar to YOUR taste.  I use less than originally called for..because I'm me and that's what I do.  But you can use up to the 1/2 cup originally in the recipe.  I'd start at 1/4 cup and work your way up from there.

Once again, because I'm me, I usually just toss some of this and some of that into the blender.  However, this is a delicious recipe and, if I were making it for others, I would follow it exactly.

 Orange Julius
6 oz. (half of can) frozen orange juice concentrate
1 cup milk
1 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1 t. vanilla
10 ice cubes
Whipped cream, optional

In a blender, mix everything but the ice cubes until it's creamy.  Add the ice cubes and blend until smooth.  This amount would probably serve 3-4 people.
